Truxtun Avenue on-ramp to westbound Westside Parkway CLOSED Sept. 7 to 14

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The City of Bakersfield is reminding residents that as part of the pavement rehabilitation project on Truxtun Avenue, the on-ramp to the westbound Westside Parkway will be temporarily closed starting Monday, September 7.

The closure is expected to last through Monday, September 14.

City officials said crews will construct new concrete barriers and install new guardrail to improve safety for the traveling public.

During the closure, drivers are advised to use alternate routes. Detours will be provided at nearby arterial streets.

Traffic controls will be in place as needed to ensure safe travel through the work zone.

This work is related to an ongoing pavement rehab project that includes removing the existing asphalt and repaving the roadway; installing thermoplastic and green methyl methacrylate striping and lane markings; adjustment of existing manholes and water valves; the construction of new median nose; and the adjustment of monument encasements.

The Truxtun Avenue rehabilitation project is expected to be completed by Thursday, September 20.
