SacAnime
A major Northern California anime convention is returning to Sacramento this weekend. From Sept. 4-6 fans will gather at Safe Credit Union Convention Center dressed as their favorite anime and pop culture characters. The event will feature vendors, games and celebrity appearances. Our Street Night Market
One of the most popular night markets in Sacramento is making its annual return. On Saturday, Sept. 5, Sacramento’s R Street will be shut down for several blocks and turned into a block party with vendors, DJs, silent disco and more. Sacramento Rainbow Festival
Lavender Heights will be the home of a celebration more than 40 years in the making on Sunday during this year’s Sacramento Rainbow Festival. The festival’s theme this year is Retro Rainbow, paying homage to the music, memories and people who have helped build the festival up over the years. Chalk It Up!
The 36th annual Chalk It Up! Chalk Art & Music Festival is taking place in Sacramento this Labor Day weekend. From Saturday through Monday, midtown Sacramento sidewalks will become a canvas for local artists in the Fremont Park area. Sacramento State’s home opening football game
The first home game of the MAC era at Sacramento state will take place on Saturday when the Hornets take on the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils. Tailgating begins in the parking lot of Hornet Stadium at 3 p.m. and the game begins at 7 p.m. Find tickets here.
Hot Jazz Jubilee
This Labor Day weekend Sacramento is the place to be for jazz fans. From Friday, Sept. 4-Monday, Sept. 7 the 11th annual Hot Jazz Jubilee will be taking place at the DoubleTree by Hilton. Around the World in 80 Days
B Street Theatre at the Sofia will be running an adapted play of Around the World in 80 Days From Friday through Sunday. Find tickets here.
Additional Screenings of the Odyssey

Yolo County

Ice Cube at Thunder Valley Casino
Sunday should be a good day. Hip-hop legend Ice Cube will be performing at The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort, alongside special guests Luniz and Lil Eazy-E, the son the iconic NWA rapper. Roseville Greek Food Festival
On Saturday and Sunday the Roseville Greek Food Festival will return at Saint Anna Greek Orthodox Church. The event is card-only and entry is $5, except for children 12 and under, who get in for free. Learn more here.

Stockton Community Pow Wow
An annual Labor Day weekend Pow Wow is returning to Stockton on Saturday and Sunday. The free Native American heritage event runs from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Attendees can expect crafts, traditional foods and cultural education. The Pow Wow will take place at the University of the Pacific on the lawn near the Wendell Phillips Center.
Taco The Town 5k and 10k
A marathon with tacos at the finish line is plenty of motivation. The Taco The Town 5k and 10k will take place Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Stockton. The event is bringing tacos, live music and a beer garden to Baxter Park, either as a reward for those finishing their run, or fuel for people cheering them on. Learn more here.
