Another week, another change in the TV news scene in Fresno.
Christina Gregory announced she would be leaving ABC30 after nearly three years as meteorologist on the station’s A.M. Live broadcast. In a segment Wednesday morning, she said the decision was “incredibly difficult” because she loved her job and being part of the community.
“But sometimes life asks you to make a choice between two things you love,” Gregory said.
“This time my heart is choosing home.”
Gregory is moving to Buffalo, New York, to be closer to her family and will be taking some time off to get settled in a new home with her boyfriend.
Her final broadcast is Friday.

Christina Gregory is the latest on-air personality to leave ABC30’s news team. Her last day at the station is Sept. 4, 2026.
Gregory was born and raised in Syracuse and started her career in Rochester before coming to Fresno in 2023 to take over for Madeline Evans, who left ABC30 in April of that year. Gregory called her time at the station her “greatest adventure, yet,” and thanked the viewers for their trust and kindness.
“I’ve felt it,” she said, “meeting you in person, even at the fair, or just at the supermarket.”
The departure is part of a seeming exodus of on-air personalities from the Fresno market.
Gregory is the fourth to leave ABC30 since June, when Stephen Hicks left for Southern California to be with his wife (and fellow TV journalist) Hunter Sowards.
Gabe Ferris is now at the ABC station in Chicago.
Tiffany Olin left for a gig at for a gig at KVVU-TV in Las Vegas.
And it’s not just ABC30.
At KMPH, Kim Stephens announced she would be leaving Great Day for a full-time tenure track position at Fresno State. The four-decade TV news veteran only recently returned to the morning show after filling in on evening desk duties for Monte Torres, who announced his retirement in June.
Nexstar’s CBS47 and KSEE24 duopoly saw departures from Ben Morris, Brian Dorman, Briana Byus and Jason Takhtadjian.
Morris appears to be in Portland, Maine.
Dorman said he plans to stay in the Central Valley, and will be sharing news on his future later this month. In the meantime, he is active on social media, where he does daily news updates.
Byus said she was leaving the Central Valley, but not the news business. She has landed a job with a Nexstar station outside of California, but hasn’t shared details yet.
Takhtadjian is a content manager and sports host with Armenian Sports News, according to a profile on Linkedin.
Not the first time Fresno has seen turnover in TV news
While the scope of the turnover is notable, it’s not exactly unique, as Dorman pointed out in a final segment last month. “We all started around the same time, different year … and then contracts come up and this is what happens.”
Typically, TV news contracts are two to three years.
Following that timeline back, the Fresno market saw a similar turnover in 2019 and in 2022-2023, when it lost a half-dozen or more TV personalities, including the aforementioned Evans, but also (and this isn’t the full list):
