BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The California Highway Patrol’s Bakersfield office is inviting the public to sit down with officers over coffee as part of a community outreach event.
CHP Bakersfield is set to host “Coffee with a Cop” on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at the “Hageman and Coffee” Starbucks, located at 4560 Coffee Road.
Officials said the event is designed to give community members and CHP officers a neutral place to meet, discuss community issues, have coffee and build relationships.
CHP Bakersfield said, “The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for building relationships with the community, and some community members may feel officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.”
