FLORENCE, S.C. (WPDE) — Drivers in Florence should prepare for traffic impacts as the city begins a major stormwater improvement project this fall.
The City of Florence says construction on the N. Church Street and Oakland Avenue stormwater enhancement project is expected to begin in mid-to-late September and continue through early summer 2027.
This project is funded by the South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR). They said this project will involve improvements to the existing stormwater system, including the installation of larger stormwater pipes, new catch basins and other drainage infrastructure.
City officials say the upgrades are designed to address localized flooding that can happen during periods of heavy rainfall.
