The typical asking rent in Michigan ranges from about $900 a month to just over $2,800, according to the latest Zillow data.
Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and parts of the Grand Traverse Bay and Grand Rapids regions had some of Michigan’s highest typical asking rents, while Flint, Detroit and several smaller cities posted some of the lowest estimates.
Zillow’s Observed Rent Index includes rent estimates for 235 Michigan ZIP codes. Zillow estimates the typical asking rent in a ZIP code using rental listings in the middle of the market (the 35th to 65th percentile range).
The seasonally adjusted data is dated July 31 and includes single-family and multifamily rentals.
The interactive map below shows the typical asking rent in Michigan ZIP codes included in the Zillow data. ZIP codes shaded green have lower asking rents, while those shaded red have higher ones.
ZIP codes with higher asking rents also tended to have higher home values, while those with lower asking rents tended to have lower home values.
