Whiskery and whimsical beings are a common and cute sight when October arrives, which is no surprise: The season of autumn boasts all sorts of stories, decorations, and adventures that focus on furry characters of a fantastical nature.

Cats often play a role in these ensorcelled offerings, but finding a festivity at the heart of October that is solely feline-focused is something wonderful and rare.

But CatCon, “the world’s largest event dedicated to the intersection of cat culture and pop culture,” is one of those rare happenings, a major meow-up for people who adore cat art, cat books, cat costumes, and, yes, the chance to meet adoptable cats.

The weekend-big convention is swishing its tail on Oct. 10 and 11 at the Pasadena Convention Center, the longtime local home of the animal-loving expo.

Over 200 home-needing kittens will be available to cuddle with, so make time to trot by the adoption area for play time and fall-in-love time, too. Pasadena Humane is behind the meet-and-greet spot and will share important information and support if you do find a pumpkin you adore.

Meet a new forever-bestie at CatCon at the Pasadena Convention Center on Oct 10 and 11.

A caboodle of cat-inspired vendors will also fill the bustling aisles of CatCon, with joyful jewelry, cute clothes, cat-centered comic books, and everything catly you can imagine. And by “caboodle” we do mean hundreds of artisans, authors, and makers of creative items will be in attendance.

Also attending? The always-obsessed-over Australian Firefighters and the super-wholesome Bob Baker Marionette Theater puppets.

And a caboodle of cat celebrities, and humans, too, are set to bewitch audiences: One Eared Uno, Nathan the Cat Lady, and Calvin of Cat Named Calvin are expected to attend.

METAL GEAR will be in the house with cat plushies and more, while the eye-catching art show will spotlight nostalgic themes, whisking cat lovers back to decades gone by.

Cat costumes are most definitely part of the CatCon scene, but you don’t have to go all meow-t, or out, rather, with your attire: A pair of fetching felt ears, attached to a headband, is purr-fectly acceptable

Need to bat your paw at a ticket or two? Meow meow: Run after yours as quickly as a kitten runs after a dangling bit of colorful yarn.
