Two suspects wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation in California were arrested in Carson City on Wednesday, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said they received information around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, that Michael Porter-Romero, 34, and Chelsie Williams, 25, may be in Carson City.
The two are accused of being involved in a physical altercation that escalated into a shooting in Oakdale, California, on Sept. 6. Authorities said they fled the scene and were considered armed and dangerous.
Detectives with the Oakdale Police Department later determined the suspects may have traveled to Carson City.
Carson City detectives, assisted by the Nevada Department of Investigation’s Tri-County Narcotics Task Force, used law enforcement technology to locate the suspects in the 2700 block of South Carson Street. Detectives then established surveillance in the area.
On Sept. 9, detectives and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Critical Response Unit served arrest warrants and took Porter-Romero and Williams into custody. Both were transported to the Carson City Detention Center.
Porter-Romero is being held on $1.35 million bail as a fugitive from justice on a warrant alleging attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm and prohibited person in possession of ammunition.
Williams is being held on $50,000 bail on charges of attempted murder, accessory after the fact and battery.
