Sunday was another day of sunshine. Temperatures were up just a liiiiiittle from Saturday, but not much. Labor Day’s temperatures will be up just a liiiiiittle from Sunday’s… but again, not much. The heat of Summer will return after that, and along with a little moisture from nearby soon-to-be Tropical Storm Marie, it might feel just a little sticky outside.
Merced warmed to a high of 88, Madera hit 89, while both Fresno and Hanford topped out at 90 on Sunday, and Monday should see highs in the low 90’s – not bad at all for Labor Day!
It’ll be back to work on Tuesday, and that’s when our weather will change. Highs will warm to the middle 90’s, and then-Tropical Storm Marie will throw some moisture our way. Our skies will go from mostly sunny Tuesday morning to partly/mostly cloudy Tuesday afternoon and night, along with a very slight chance of an evening shower or even a brief thunderstorm.
Above: Hurricanes from the eastern Pacific have been known to bring Summer showers to the San Joaquin Valley. Here’s a look back at some of California’s biggest tropical weathermakers.
Skies will clear out through the day Wednesday, going from partly cloudy to mostly sunny by the afternoon. It’ll get even hotter, with highs in the upper 90’s. Some clouds Thursday morning will clear out and Valley highs will return to near 100.
But once again, milder weather should return by the weekend. It was a Summer storm that moved through northern California recently (and brought showers to the Bay Area, and northward!) that knocked our temperatures down… and another one could do the same for next weekend. No rain for the San Joaquin Valley, but highs should once again drop back into the 80’s by next Sunday.
Not bad at all for September!
