(FOX40.COM) — A portion of the Sacramento Regional Transit District’s Blue Line light rail service will be partially suspended for over two weeks to allow for construction, SacRT announced.
According to officials, the Blue Line will be unavailable between City College Station and Florin Station from Sept. 11 through Sept. 30, and regular Blue Line service will return Oct. 1.
SacRT said that the closure will allow construction at area stations. The 47th Avenue station will have its platforms raised eight inches to meet the height requirements for low-floor Siemens S700 trains, and the Fruitridge station will see shelter adjustments.
Tracks in the work zone will be impassable during construction, and a bus bridge will be operated to allow riders to travel through the affected areas.
The shuttle buses will be open between City College and Florin stations during normal light rail service hours, officials said. Riders will be able to transfer between trains and the shuttle buses to continue Blue Line travel.
