The Chinese Historical and Cultural Project (CHCP) invites the community to celebrate Chinese American history, culture and heritage at its Double Happiness Celebration on Saturday, September 19, from noon to 3:30 p.m. at San Jose History Park.

The free community event will commemorate two important milestones: the 35th anniversary of the Chinese American Historical Museum and the 5th anniversary of the City of San Jose’s Resolution of Apology to the Chinese community, which formally acknowledged the discrimination and injustices experienced by early Chinese immigrants and their descendants.

The celebration will feature an opening stage program with welcome remarks from San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan and other government officials, with former TV anchor Dion Lim serving as guest emcee.

Guests can also enjoy Chinese cultural entertainment, including lion dancing, children’s activities celebrating the Year of the Horse, light refreshments and the premiere of a new CHCP traveling exhibit. The Chinese American Historical Museum will be open during the celebration and will feature a new exhibit highlighting the City of San Jose’s historic apology.

The Double Happiness Celebration is free and open to the public.
