OAKLAND — Thirteen felony charges, including attempted murder, were filed Wednesday against an ex-convict in two Oakland shootings last month — one where he allegedly fired at police officers and another where a man was wounded multiple times weeks earlier, according to authorities and court records.
The suspect, Aleem Spencer, 45, is being held without bail and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday. Besides the criminal prosecution, he also is facing revocation of parole.
He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder of a peace officer, one count of attempted murder, two counts of assault on a peace officer with a semi-automatic firearm, one count of assault with a firearm, four counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, one count of arson of a structure and two counts of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
The most recent shooting where police officers were targeted happened on Aug. 30. Officers had responded to Manzanita Park in the 2700 block of 22nd Avenue for a report of a man armed with a hammer threatening to kill a woman.
The man turned out to be Spencer. When police approached him he allegedly fired several shots at two officers who fired back but no one was injured.

Spencer than ran to a nearby unoccupied home and threw containers of flammable liquid at police, starting a fire that severely damaged the home, authorities said. He fled the home on foot after officers used gas to force him out. He was arrested a short distance away and briefly hospitalized.
According to court records, he later admitted firing a gun at the police officers.
At the time of his arrest he was wanted for a shooting Aug. 1 in the 500 block of 33rd Street in West Oakland where a man was wounded multiple times.
According to court records, Spencer and the other man were acquainted with each other and the shooting stemmed from a feud they were having about Spencer allegedly stealing items from the victim.
According to court records, Spencer has five prior felony convictions. One was in Los Angeles County in June 2013 for possession of illegal substances in a jail facility. Three were in Alameda County in July 2005 for kidnapping, forcible oral copulation and assault with intent to commit a felony and the fifth was in Alameda County in March 2003 for vehicle theft. He received prison terms for all but the vehicle theft conviction for which he was placed on probation.
