SAN DIEGO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s San Diego Field Office briefly paused northbound traffic at three land ports of entry Friday morning, Sept. 11, to observe the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The pause took place at 5:46 a.m. at the San Ysidro, Otay Mesa and Calexico West ports of entry, according to CBP.
During the observance, CBP personnel held a moment of silence to remember those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and honor the service and sacrifice of first responders, law enforcement, military members and others affected by the attacks.
Normal traffic operations resumed immediately after the observance.
CBP had encouraged travelers to plan accordingly and allow for a short delay. Travelers could check border wait times through CBP’s Border Wait Times website or mobile app, which the agency said is updated hourly.
