SAN DIEGO (CNN) – Colby the Maltipoo has a story to tell.
The pooch is back with his San Diego family after going missing for almost three years.
Colby was found late Tuesday night abandoned and covered in fleas in a parking lot.
The San Diego Humane Society responded to a call about Colby, then scanned him for a microchip.
Colby had one, and officers were able to use it to track his family down.
A missing dog was reunited with his family after nearly three years, thanks to a microchip.
The dog had been missing for so long, the family had to get all the dog supplies they had gotten rid of when they thought Colby was gone forever.
That gave the San Diego Humane Society time to give Colby a bath, vaccines and a needed neutering before sending him home.
As for where Colby’s adventures took him over the past three years, only he knows.
