A person died after being struck by a car in Lemon Grove early Sunday morning, and the driver fled the scene, a sheriff’s official said.
Just after 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to a report that a person was down on the road in the vicinity of Lemon Grove and Massachusetts avenues, Lt. Dave Perkins said. The person died at the scene.
A silver Chevy Malibu with major front-end damage was seen leaving the area, Perkins said.
He said a traffic alert was issued. It was lifted about 6 a.m.
No further information was immediately available about the incident or the person who died.
