Los Angeles 4, Anaheim 1
Third Period
20:00 – 20 more to go in Game 2, Kings with a two-goal advantage over Anaheim as we get back underway.
15:00 – Little bit of work for Hampton Slukynsky early in the third period but nothing overly troubling. Calm and composed thus far to keep the Ducks off the board.
13:53 – ANA Goal – Tough one for the Kings because it came just seconds after a fantastic right-pad save by Slukynsky. Lucas Pettersson scores a one timer after the Ducks kept the play alive. 2-1 game.
10:44 – Ice scrape with 10:44 left in the third. Ducks have come alive a bit but Kenny Connors did a good job of taking some of the air out of the game after the ducks goal. Good calming presence with strong puck transportation. Still 2-1 Kings, but a tight one down the stretch.
9:52 – McQueen and Woolley take matching roughing minors so we’ll play 4-on-4 for the first time in the tournament.
8:01 – It’s going to go in for Wright at some point. Imposing his skating on the game, has had two breakaways now and was denied both times as he deked to the backhand. It’ll come for him.
6:02 – LAK Goal – Lefebvre bangs in a rebound from in tight to make it 3-1 Kings. Well earned, thought he had some good flashes today, especially in the first period. Good on him for getting into that area
3:31 – LAK Goal – Lefebvre gets his second, this time via a deflection. Mastrodomenico had the shot from up top and Lefebvre gets a tip from the low slot. 4-1 Kings, late third period.
0:00 – The Kings even their record for the tournament with a good win over Anaheim. One more to go against Utah on Tuesday!

Second Period
20:00 – Back at it for the second, Kings with a 1-0 lead in Game 2.
16:00 – Very energetic shift from Cihar/Connors/Wright. All over Anaheim on the forecheck, forced a couple of turnovers which led to a couple of decent looks. Kings have controlled the bulk of the game but still in search of a second goal.
14:13 – LAK Goal – Koehn Ziemmer, x2! Kings doubled their lead as Ziemmer buries from the slot. Again, a good release from a dangerous area. Grant Slukynsky won an o-zone faceoff to set it up. 2-0 LAK.
11:37 – Kings take and kill the first penalty of the game. Pretty aggressive and effective from LAK on that one. Kaleb Lawrence with a big block and drew some stick taps from teammates.
10:32 – Los Angeles right back to the penalty kill as Corbet sits for interference.
8:32 – Kings have done a great job of getting sticks and bodies in shooting lanes. Very little getting to Hampton Slukynsky clean. Night and day from yesterday’s game against San Jose.
6:32 – Been nice seeing Jared Wright involved on the PK today. If he makes the Kings, I think he could help on that unit. His speed, both short and long course, is an asset.
0:00 – Kings lead 2-0 after 40 minutes of play, with Koehn Ziemmer responsible for both LA goals.

First Period
20:00 – Game 2 is underway!
15:18 – Kings look pretty good early. Brzustewicz with a nice chance moving in down the right wing but missed high. Good legs from a lot of guys in Game 2, specifically some of the guys who played yesterday.
10:59 – Jack Hughes, wearing the “A” in Game 2, off to a good start. Just has a lot of shiftiness in his game. It’s not something the really jumps off the page but he makes a lot of solid and useful hockey plays.
10:29 – LAK Goal – Koehn Ziemmer gives the Kings an early lead. Top shelf finish, good quick release. Nice stretch pass by Michael Mastrodominico to spring him loose. AHL contract with Ontario this season, has been noticeable early in G2.
8:44 – Jared Wright easily the fastest skater on the ice. Won a race from multiple strides back to get a breakaway but was denied on the backhand. Decent effort, great speed nonetheless.
7:17 – Really impressive shift by Liam Lefebvre. Could see a lot of reasons why the Kings were so high on him at the 2026 NHL Draft. All over the ice in a good way, with and without the puck.
3:00 – Very active opening period for Henry Brzustewicz. Have noticed him a few times moving in from the right point to keep a play alive or create himself. Would add Michael Mastrodominico into that as well. Very impressive period from the Notre Dame product.
0:00 – 1-0 Kings after 20 minutes. Pretty impressive period for LA.
