BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died after crashing into several parked cars with his vehicle catching fire at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott as 45-year-old Omar Marlyn Archie of West Jordan, Utah.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 4:53 a.m., officers were called to the 3800 block of Marriott Drive regarding a single vehicle versus parked vehicles.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle fully engulfed and the driver still in the driver’s seat.

The Bakersfield Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire, and pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The driver was identified as 45-year-old Omar Marlyn Archie of West Jordan, Utah.
