Here are Oakland County’s top 10 football teams following the third week of the 2026 season:

1. Detroit Catholic Central (3-0 D1) — The ball only took one bounce off the ground before Detroit Catholic Central led last Friday as Peyton Sofran took the opening kick 90 yards for a touchdown against Windsor Holy Names. DCC, who led that game 36-0 by the end of the first quarter, was the only team in the CHSL Central not to play a divisional game in Week 3, but they’ll jump in this week at home with Warren De La Salle.

2. Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice (3-0 D2) — Rice was 2-2 in one-score games last season, but are now 1-0 in that category when they held on and beat Warren DLS 31-28 in Week 3. The Warriors showed good balance on offense, just needing to clean up some big plays through the air. They’ll get a chance to do that against Detroit U-D Jesuit before getting OLSM in Week 5.

3. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (2-1 D2) — St. Mary’s must have been relieved to finally win handily after the nail-bitters in back-to-back weeks to start the year. The Eaglets beat Toledo St. John’s Jesuit 56-7 coming off a triple-overtime loss to Detroit King, but no one will say they aren’t tested. They’ll now get another visit from across the Ohio border in St. Francis De Sales, who lost 47-7 last Friday to Central Catholic, one of the three CHSL Central teams (along with the two ranked first and second on this list) off to a 3-0 start overall.

4. Clarkston (3-0 D1) — Few teams seemed to enjoy their crossover games last weekend more than the Wolves, who trounced Troy Athens 41-0. They did all the scoring in the first half, meaning they should be well-rested for a trip to feisty Rochester Adams in the first of four divisional games in a row beginning this week.

5. Oxford (3-0 D1) — Oxford might be one of the biggest risers on some rankings this week, but they’ve gotten respect on this list from the get-go. The Wildcats were efficient passing the ball with quarterback Michael King, a first-year starting sophomore, and also ran for over 200 yards in a three-score triumph over Lake Orion. With only two OAA Red games in the books altogether it might be too soon to say, but after Oxford plays Rochester this Friday in a conference crossover, it’s at least safe to say the trip to Clarkston on Sept. 25 will have massive implications on the division.

6. South Lyon (2-1 D2) — Maybe the Lions deserved to be hovering around the bottom of this list prior to last week, but going from newcomers all the way to sixth seems warranted. Their only loss was to Clarkston, then they drubbed Livonia Churchill before beating Walled Lake Western by three touchdowns last Thursday. Jeff Henson’s team has everyone’s attention and is in for a great league matchup this Friday at Milford.

7. Northville (3-0 D1) — A last-second field goal boosted Northville past Brighton, 35-34, at home in Week 3, and now it’s time to take this team seriously as the last unbeaten in the KLAA Black Division. The Mustangs, who also own a double-overtime win over Lake Orion, will host winless Novi this Friday.

8. Stoney Creek (2-1 D1) — The Cougars drop just slightly from where they were last week after putting it to Troy, 45-3. If other teams nipping at their heels on this list win alongside them, they may slip a little bit over the next few weeks — that’s just part of being in the OAA White — but if they can emerge from their next two divisional contests at 4-1, that’ll put them in good position before consecutive defining games against Rochester and Adams.

9. Milford (3-0 D2) — It’s a one-spot jump for the Mavericks, who join the South Lyon rivals as the only LVC teams off to a 2-0 league start. Seaholm is still the toughest opponent Milford has faced, but they’ll have a chance to dispel doubts about their quality this Friday when the Mavs host the Lions.

10. Walled Lake Western (2-1 D2) — This last spot felt up for grabs, but Western has a good of track record as anyone, so they don’t totally fall off the list. In Weeks 5-7, they’ll play league opponents with a combined overall record of 1-8, but before that the Warriors have a chance to go pick up a quality road win with a trip to Farmington, who suffered its first loss last week at Livonia Franklin, 31-13.
