A pedestrian and motorcyclist were killed in separate traffic collisions in San Jose since Thursday, marking the 35th and 36th fatal collisions in the South Bay city this year.

San Jose police officers responded to reports of a traffic collision in the area of Saratoga Avenue and Latimer Avenue involving a motorcycle at about 7:33 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Police determined that the driver of a 2021 white Audi Q5 was traveling south on Saratoga Avenue when they made a left turn onto Latimer Drive and struck a 2025 white Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.

The woman riding the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital but died Sunday. Her name has not been released.

Then on Sept. 12, the driver of a Tesla Model X struck and killed a man while he was crossing the street in South San Jose, police said.

The collision happened at about 12:14 a.m. near the corner of Curtner Avenue and Stone Avenue, police said. When medics arrived, they found a man dead on the road. He has not been identified.

The Tesla driver remained on scene afterward, authorities said. Police said it was the 18th pedestrian death of 2026.

Anyone with information on either case is asked to call 408-277-4654.
