BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department has released new crime statistics for the month of August.
In August alone, BPD reported 24,070 calls made to 911, arrested 1,164 people, reported 163 vehicle thefts and two homicides, 44 robberies and 113 aggravated assault cases.
The department also stated that in August they responded to 83 burglaries, 16 sexual assault and 189 domestic violence reports and 57 DUI arrests.
BPD said there were a total of 62,441 calls made into the department’s Communications Center last month.
Compared to July, BPD said the number of services calls for vehicle thefts, burglaries, DUI arrests, aggravated assault and domestic violence reports had decreased.
Alternatively, the department said the number of robberies, total arrests, homicides and sexual assault instances increased.
