BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman died after a solo-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 early Saturday morning near Castaic.
The California Highway Patrol said on September 12, 2026, at around 6:23 a.m., officers were called to a solo-vehicle crash and body within the lanes of southbound Interstate 5, near Lake Hughes Road.
CHP units found an overturned vehicle within the right shoulder and a female within the number one lane. The female was pronounced dead by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
According to CHP, initial reports found that the driver was traveling southbound on I-5, near Lake Hughes Road. CHP said for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, climbed the dirt embankment, and rolled over.
The female driver was ejected as a result of the crash.
CHP said alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
