Long Beach Township Police Chief Edward Bernhard will be the guest speaker at a meeting of the North Beach Taxpayers Association on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. at the St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Surf City.
Included at the meeting will be “K-9 Rogue,” a German shepherd from the Czech Republic, and his handler, Patrolman Luke Stambaugh, as well as “K-9 Zero,” a German shepherd from Hungary, and his handler, Patrolman Jessica Burkhard.
Detective Matthew Ruark of the Traffic Safety Unit and Lt. Brendan Kerlin of the Drone Unit will participate as well.
“It promises to be an inside look at the important work of law enforcement and our specially trained police dogs,” said Gillian Rozicer, association president.
She said there will also be updates on snow removal from easement openings, the new water mains scheduled for 2026-27, creating lists of full-time residents, obtaining 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, the Garden Club of Long Beach Island’s wildflower garden donation, and future winter events in North Beach, including educational talks on LBI ecology, winter dinner meetings, future initiatives and new ideas for the wine and cheese event.
She said there are 220 NBTPA members from the 600-plus homes in North Beach, the 1.7-mile section of Long Beach Township between Surf City and Harvey Cedars.
