A 21-year-old California native arrested five times in St. Augustine in approximately 14 months is now accused of spitting on a person at a bar, trying to headbutt an officer and threatening an officer’s family.
Hunter Andreas Henschke, who is listed as homeless, was arrested Sept. 4 on charges including felony battery, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, threatening an officer with death or serious bodily harm, resisting without violence and disorderly intoxication.
According to a St. Augustine Police Department report, Henschke became drunk and disruptive at a local bar and refused to leave when asked by staff. Police say he spat on a person before walking away.
An officer found Henschke in the roadway about half a block away. Henschke allegedly screamed racial slurs, refused to cooperate and moved as though he intended to headbutt the officer.
Police say he repeatedly attempted to spit on several officers, including after they placed a spit hood over his head.
During the ride to jail, Henschke allegedly threatened to kill the transporting officer and described assaulting and killing members of the officer’s family.
The arrest follows four other cases involving Henschke since July 2025.

His first local arrest came after someone hurled chunks of concrete through windows at the Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel in an attempted break-in on July 16, causing approximately $2,000 in damage.
A hotel employee who collected sneakers identified the vandal’s distinctive footwear in surveillance footage as green-and-white Nike Air Jordan 1s.
The following day, an officer encountered Henschke in the Plaza de la Constitución. Police said he resembled the person in the footage and was wearing green-and-white Air Jordans along with the same clothing seen in the video.
Four days later, Henschke was arrested after allegedly punching another man and throwing him to the ground during an altercation at Port in the Storm.
Two independent witnesses identified him as the aggressor. Henschke was convicted of battery in that case in August 2025.
In October, Henschke was arrested in an apparently unprovoked attack near the downtown parking garage and Visitors Information Center.
Police said he approached a man sitting on a bench and repeatedly punched and kicked him after he fell. The victim suffered cuts to his head and ear as well as injuries across his face and arms.
In March, Henschke was arrested after allegedly grabbing a female employee’s breast while applying for a job at a St. George Street store.
The woman told police Henschke followed her through the store and wrapped both arms around her. A coworker arrived after receiving a text asking for help and saw Henschke holding her.
Henschke admitted hugging the employee because he was interested in her and reportedly told police he considered his behavior normal.
Police records also show that he was convicted of battery in California in 2022.
