WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man was found dead in a car in Waterford Township Tuesday morning, and police said he was killed in an ambush shooting.
A 20-year-old Detroit man was found dead in the front passenger’s seat of a car in the area of Williams Lake Road and Hanford Drive at around 6 a.m. on Sept. 15.

According to Waterford police, three men who were in the car at the time of the shooting told police that the shooting happened in the area of Pontiac Lake Road and Summit Drive.
Investigators said four men went to the pre-arranged location to meet a woman when they were ambushed by several men with assault rifles who fired at the car, striking the front seat passenger.
As police investigated, detectives arrested one suspect in Clinton Township after a short foot chase late Tuesday night. A backpack was recovered, which contained two handguns.
After further investigation, police arrested a second suspect around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 16 in Eastpointe. Detectives took both men to the Waterford Police Department and interviewed them.
The investigation is ongoing. Waterford police said investigators will continue gathering facts and evidence to present to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision.
