BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — One person died early Wednesday morning after a solo-vehicle crash on Sycamore Road in an area west of Arvin.
The California Highway Patrol said on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at around 12:42 a.m., officers were called to Sycamore Road and South Edison Road for a report of a solo-vehicle crash.
CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a male of unknown age was driving a 2007 Scion tC westbound on Sycamore Road, just west of South Edison Road, at an unknown high rate of speed.
According to CHP, for reasons still under investigation, the driver allowed the vehicle to travel off the roadway, where it overturned into a dirt field.
As a result of the crash, the driver died at the scene.
CHP said at this time, it is unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in this crash.
