BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 59-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting that left two people dead in east Bakersfield back in May 2026.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said on May 25, 2026, at around 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to the 5700 block of Eucalyptus Drive for two victims of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found two men dead on the property.
One of the two men was identified as 61-year-old Marcelino Rodriguez of Bakersfield.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said 59-year-old Kenneth Calloway Macklin was arrested on Tuesday, September 16, in connection with the homicides.
KCSO said during the investigation, detectives determined Macklin was a suspect and obtained a search warrant.

Earlier this month, KCSO requested information on a vehicle that left the scene of the shooting.
