BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Taft man, who was on probation, was arrested after officers allegedly found two reportedly stolen guns and ammunition during a home search on Tuesday.
The Kern County Probation Department said on September 15, 2026, officers assigned to the department’s AB 109 Division, Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) unit conducted a home call in the 100 block of Shattuck Avenue in Taft.
Officers contacted William Starling, who is actively on Post Release Community Supervision.
The department said during a search of the residence, officers found a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver, a Taurus .40 caliber handgun, live ammunition in various calibers and shotgun shells.
A records check revealed both firearms were reported stolen, according to the department.

As a result, Starling was arrested for felon in possession of firearms, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of stolen property, alteration, removal, or obliterated identification markings on a firearm, resisting or delaying arrest, as well as a violation of his Post Release Community Supervision.
