Whole Foods Market opens fourth Sacramento-area store
New Elk Grove Whole Foods is grocery retailer’s 94th in California
ELK GROVE, Calif. —
A new Whole Foods Market opened its doors Wednesday in Elk Grove.
It is the grocery retailer’s fourth store in the Sacramento area and its 94th in California.
The Elk Grove location at 8100 Elk Grove Boulevard is 43,000 square-feet and will be open daily with regular store hours 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
KCRA 3 was there as the first of the new store’s customers lined up before its doors opened.
Over 300 shoppers received commemorative tote bags and gift cards worth $5 to $100.
Elk Grove Mayor Bobbi Singh-Allen and Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen attended the store’s grand opening – marking the day with a Bread Breaking Ceremony (Whole Foods Market’s version of a ribbon cutting, the company explained).
“So many people come together, do brilliant work, incredible work for us to be able to build what you see here today,” Anthony Galli, the Elk Grove store’s team leader said. “I’m just super proud to show it off and be here to serve our Elk Grove community.”
Whole Foods Market team members also filled a refrigerated van with donated fresh food to mark the Elk Grove store’s opening day. The food will be handed out to people in-need across the community through River City Food Bank.
