A suspected serial burglar is in custody after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of property from several schools in Fresno and Kings counties.
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — A suspected serial burglar is in custody after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of property from several schools in Fresno and Kings counties.
Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies were first alerted to the crimes in early August following a burglary at the future site of Clovis South High School.
Later that same day, deputies attempted to stop a stolen pickup truck near Manning and Englehart avenues. The driver allegedly jumped out and ran into an orchard to escape.
Investigators searched the truck and found a variety of power tools valued at approximately $25,000. A contractor working at the Clovis South High School site reported the tools stolen.
Detectives later identified the driver as 35-year-old Joe Ramos-Flores.
According to investigators, a search warrant served at Ramos-Flores’ home linked him to crimes at Clovis East High School, Fowler High School and Lemoore High School.
The investigation remains ongoing. Detectives believe Ramos-Flores may have been working with other suspects.
