Bakersfield Fire Dept. Vehicle Involved in Fatal Crash at Intersection

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Nov. 10, 2025) — Bruce Edward Hall Jr., 32, of Bakersfield, died on Oct. 31st in a bicycle accident involving a city fire department vehicle at Union Avenue and 4th Street in Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the cyclist was struck by a Bakersfield Fire Department Arson Unit vehicle around 10 a.m. on October 31 at the Bakersfield intersection.

Paramedics transported the injured man to Kern Medical; however, he did not survive, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The on-duty arson investigator who was driving the city-owned vehicle stopped and cooperated with detectives.

The cause of the crash and liability remains under investigation.
