James (Jim) Nicholas Frize
OBITUARY
James (Jim) Nicholas Frize passed away in the early morning of September 4th, 2026 at his home in Anaheim Hills. He was 76 years old.
Jim was born on December 13, 1949 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to parents Eva and Jim Frize. Jim was the fourth of 12 total siblings and shortly after his birth, the family moved to Huntington Park, CA. Jim would go on to graduate from Bell High School and after working several different jobs, and for several different companies, he would go on to start Frize Corporation in July of 1982. Jim built Frize Corporation from a small, 3 person construction company in 1982, to the multi-million dollar construction corporation with a workforce in the triple digits that it is today.
On July 13th, 1968 Jim married Donna Jean Hernandez. That marriage would go on to last 58 beautiful years. Jim is survived by his wife Donna; his son Jimmy & Dara Frize; his son Steve & Susan Frize; his six grandchildren Dalton, Delaney, Drake, Sullivan, Sutton and Savannah; his five great-grandchildren Jax, Ford, Theo, Beau and Lola. Jim is also survived by his siblings Sue Drisner, Patrick & Terry Frize, Nora Provost, Aileen Knuppel, Mary & Tony Harlan, Loretta & Greg Tucker, Tammy & Ted Shilling, Tim Frize, John Frize, Ronald & Jane Frize, sister-in-law Ronnie Smith, as well as 29 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Eva Elizabeth Frize, father, James Patrick Frize and brother, Michael Frize.
Jim was an active member of the Anaheim Hills community for 50 years, after moving there in 1976. He was heavily involved in starting Canyon High School’s bingo in 1990. As well as, a lifelong donor to CHOC Hospital alongside his wife, Donna.
It is impossible to describe Jim and not use words such as: positive, generous, loving, demonstrative, strong. Jim didn’t shake hands, Jim hugged. Jim didn’t simply walk past, he told you hello and to have a wonderful day. Jim didn’t just attend his grandkids sporting events, he was at every game passing out snacks and candy to all those alongside him in the stands. And he knew them all by first name! Jim was effortlessly present and had time for everyone. If you came by to visit him you better be prepared to sit down and catch up because he was genuinely interested in what was going on in your life. If it was your birthday you wouldn’t be simply getting a text from him, he was going to call you and sing “happy birthday” in its entirety for you on the phone. Anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with Jim Frize saw a man with a heart full of love, a restless energy for making the most of everyday and a smile across his face. Once, when asked by an employee how he was seemingly able to be happy every single day, he answered simply: “The way I see it, I have nothing to not be happy about.”
You are, and will continue to be, greatly missed Jim Frize. The world was a better place with you in it and we are all better off for having known you. Thank you for 76 years of love, unwavering support, laughter, hard work, friendship and plain old fun.
