Jason Adam is still sitting 93 mph with his four-seamer, which is par for the course for this season and down about a mile per hour from last year’s All-Star campaign.
The results on his rehab assignment, however, have not been kind as of late.
The 35-year-old reliever allowed four runs on three hits and a walk while recording one out in Triple-A El Paso’s 14-7 loss on Friday in the completion of a suspended game.
Adam pitched the seventh inning on Friday after the game was resumed and gave up a leadoff homer and a triple. He also walked a batter and struck out one before he was lifted after throwing 10 of his 18 pitches for strikes.
The rough outing followed an even rougher outing on Wednesday, when he allowed five runs on four hits and a walk without recording an out.
Adam had begun his rehab assignment on Sunday with a strikeout over a perfect inning.
Adam has been on the injured list since July 2 with a shoulder strain. He threw 139 innings between 2024-2025 (1.94 ERA) and had a 2.51 ERA in 32⅓ innings this year after beginning the year on the injured list as he came back from last year’s season-ending quad surgery.
Miguel Andujar (wrist) is also rehabbing with El Paso and was 0-for-2 with an RBI on Thursday. He did not play in the resumption of the game on Friday and was not in the lineup for the second game of the doubleheader.
Left-hander Luis Gutierrez (7.71 ERA) allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks in three innings in the start.
