The annual meeting between Fresno State and San Jose State will be put on hold as the Spartans begin a six-game series with Sacramento State in 2027.
That means the Bulldogs and Spartans will not meet again until 2029, and the winner will hold the Valley Trophy until then.
The schools will not meet again until 2032.
Saturday’s game means more for both schools, especially since Fresno State has won the series for the past two years.
Fresno State leads the series 46-39-3, and won the past two meetings.
The Bulldogs had scheduled the Spartans for Sept. 27, 2027, but that game is now off. Fresno State will likely find a new opponent.
Fresno State‘s 2027 nonconference schedule includes Utah Tech (Aug. 28), at Washington (Sept. 4) and at Rice (Sept. 11).
