BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Kern Secret Witness is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for the murder of Johnasen Crummie back in February 2023.
Bakersfield police said on February 11th, 2023, Crummie was shot and killed outside an apartment in the 200 block of Clifton Avenue in Bakersfield.
The investigation identified Darius Key as the driver of the suspect vehicle. Key was convicted of murder and sentenced in July 2025 to 40 years to life for his role in the shooting.

Police said, however, the person who shot Crummie has not been identified and remains at large.
Another victim in the shooting was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Investigators believe members of the community may have information that could help identify the shooter.
