New patrols following incidents in Lavender Heights area of Sacramento
With the yellow lights of a security vehicle flashing behind them, Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty, Myron “Terry” Sidie, the owner of Faces and Aaron Zeff of HQ Security announced a new security strategy in the Lavender Heights of Sacramento following a report of a man being chased and beaten by men yelling anti-LGBTQ+ comments.
A week after that, two women said they were assaulted in the same area.
“The bottom line is we want this area to be safe … and for victims to be supported,” McCarty said.
As part of a new security strategy, HQ Security has offered to increase patrols in that area free of charge to the City.
“We have a real dense patrol in the city, so it’s additional resources on our side, but I am a property owner and business owner and when you have skin in the game you’ll do anything you can,” Zeff said. “I started this company not because I wanted a security company, but because this community needed a professional security solution, and that’s what we provide.”
The new patrols will continue as long as necessary, including up to six months if asked, said Zeff.
