1 dead after fire breaks out at mobile home in Clovis, fire officials say

CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) — One person is dead after a fire at a mobile home in Clovis Monday evening, according to the Clovis Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to Woods Mobile Home Park on Sylmar Avenue around 7:30 p.m. for reports of a mobile home on fire. Clovis Fire Department Public Information Officer Chad Fitzgerald said the first crews to arrive found flames coming from the home.

One person was found inside and died, Fitzgerald said. The victim’s identity and age have not been released. No other people were inside the home. Firefighters were able to enter the mobile home and contain the fire to the single unit, preventing it from spreading to neighboring homes. The mobile home sustained damage but was not a complete loss, according to Fitzgerald.

Clovis Fire Department arson investigators are working with the Clovis Police Department to determine what sparked the fire and the circumstances surrounding the death.

The cause of the fire remain under investigation.
