A San Francisco man was fatally shot in the Grand Lake District Sunday morning, authorities said. The name of the 37-year-old man has not been released pending notification of family.
The shooting happened about 1:56 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot in the 3200 block of Grand Avenue.
The man was found with at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police are trying to confirm why the man was in Oakland and what led to his shooting.
The killing is the 39th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time, police had investigated 50 homicides in the city.
