Hundreds of Auto Club employees assembled 10,137 personal hygiene kits in one hour Tuesday in Anaheim, setting a Guinness World Records title while collecting supplies for families and children in need across Orange and Los Angeles counties.

The record-setting event was held at the Hilton Anaheim Tuesday and involved Auto Club Enterprises, Orange County United Way and United Way of Greater Los Angeles.

Organizers had set a goal of assembling 10,000 kits during the one-hour event. The completed kits contain toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and other essential supplies and will be distributed to families, children and other people in need in the two counties.

According to information provided by the Auto Club, the previous Guinness World Records mark for the most personal hygiene kits assembled in one hour was just over 6,000.

The effort brought together hundreds of Auto Club employees to assemble the kits Tuesday morning.

The organizations said the event was intended to provide basic hygiene supplies to Southern California residents in need while setting a new world record.
