A new logo highlighting farms and forests in Fresno County was officially adopted Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors though the old logo isn’t going anywhere.

The supervisors voted 4-1 to adopt the new logo and slogan, “Farms to Forests, We Serve.” The new logo is a seal and features farmland, redwoods, a building similar to Pacific Southwest in Fresno’s skyline and the kind of flowers common along the Blossom Trail.

The supervisors chose to retain the county’s old logo as its “legacy seal” for official county documents, and the new one for “other print and digital branding going forward,” according to the ordinance. Supervisors Buddy Mendes cast the sole dissenting vote, saying he preferred to stick with the old one.

The county began its effort for a new tagline by asking its some-8,000 employees to weigh in, according to a county staff report. Of the employees, 2,049 participated to help mold three slogan options for residents.

The 993 residents who participated in the online effort voted by 62% for “Farms to Forests, We Serve,” according to the report.

The old seal was adopted in 1964, according to Sonja Dosti, the county’s communications director.

“The new logo and tagline would be used for daily communication, signage, digital platforms, flyers, events, social media, printing and much more,” Dosti said in her presentation to the board.

The county entered into a contract in December 2023 with JP Marketing, which is now called Hyphen, for media and mass communications services to the tune of $10,925 as part of the effort to rebrand.
