OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WFIE) – Oakland City University has released an updated schedule for former employees still waiting on missed paychecks.
According to a post shared by the university just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, former employees are scheduled to receive their third payroll deposits on Friday, Sept. 25, through payroll processing company ADP.
The university stated that the fourth and final payroll deposit for all staff employees and faculty members on nine-month contracts should be received by the first week of October.
Additionally, OCU stated that 14 faculty members who are on 12-month contracts, along with summer adjunct faculty, will continue receiving their remaining payroll through October.
The update comes after former employees told 14 News that university administration had “gone silent” regarding unpaid wages following mass layoffs earlier this year.
One former worker reported that he was still waiting on two paychecks in addition to earned vacation time, noting that OCU had shut off power to buildings and had not responded to his formal wage claim. Another employee, who was set to be paid across 12 months for a nine-month contract, also reported missing payments.
More than 100 employees were laid off in May when the university suspended all undergraduate programs. Most staff missed a total of four paychecks following the layoffs, though some of that money was distributed weeks later.
