Around 8:20 a.m., CHP responded to a crash on the eastbound lanes of US-50 under the Bradshaw Road overpass. An officer arrived on scene and found it damaged on the western edge over the highway, CHP said.

The officer later discovered that a tractor-truck driver was transporting a “large excavator” on the highway but failed to secure its bucket. The bucket hit the bottom of the overpass, knocking off about six to ten inches of concrete.

After hitting the overpass, the excavator released oil that spilled onto a car behind the truck.

According to CHP, a Caltrans inspection found that no immediate repairs were needed and no injuries resulted from the collision.

“Be sure to secure your load properly and double-check the high point of your load before setting off on your trip,” CHP warned.
