A 57-year-old man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of starting a fire at the Bank of America in Fresno.

The fire started at 11 p.m. at 5708 E. Kings Canyon Road. Police were already at the bank when the blaze started.

A fire truck arrived and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-story bank building, Fresno Fire spokesperson Josh Sellers said. Crews called for a two-alarm fire, which brought 44 firefighters to the scene.

Crews took 45 minutes to bring the fire under control, and remained on scene for three hours to extinguish hot spots.

Sellers said 20% of the building had significant damage.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was arrested on multiple charges, including felony arson.
