FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Fresno Police say a dine-and-dasher was attempting to flee a Tower District restaurant when he was hit by a driver who then took off from the scene.
The incident started around 9:30 p.m. Friday at Indian’s Oven on Olive Avenue and Fulton Street.
Officers say a man ran off after not paying for his meal and was struck by a white Toyota Tacoma on Wishon Avenue.
“He then attempted to leave, where he was chased by security and then ran into Olive and at that point a vehicle that was headed eastbound ended up striking the pedestrian and then fled,” Fresno Police Lieutenant James Rosetti said.
Officers say they are looking into the driver possibly being intoxicated at the time of the collision.
The dine-and-dasher was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where his current condition is unknown.
Olive Avenue is expected to be closed for the next couple of hours.
