Portola Music Festival has taken over San Francisco’s Pier 80 for its fifth edition, once again bringing a booming array of electronic dance and pop music artists to the city.
Swedish pop singer Robyn and electronic trio Swedish House Mafia are headlining this year, along with Dog Blood, West Portal-raised Skrillex’s project with Boys Noize. Other performers scheduled to perform Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 26-27, include “Midnight Sun” singer Zara Larsson, former Spice Girl Melanie C, Katseye trainee Adéla and groundbreaking Bay Area artist DJ Shadow.

Often regarded as one of the Bay Area’s loudest music events, Portola has become notorious for drawing noise complaints from across the bay due to its mostly-outdoor setup and waterfront location. As a result, this year’s festival will again employ the same sound mitigation strategies implemented by producer Goldenvoice and the San Francisco Entertainment Commission in 2024.
In true San Francisco fashion, the weather will remain fairly chilly throughout the weekend, with cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 60s, according to Chronicle senior meteorologist Greg Porter. While the sun may peak out briefly as Saturday afternoon nears, Sunday will remain gray.
