CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The 51st annual ClovisFest is underway this weekend, shutting down 12 blocks of Old Town Clovis and bringing the community together for two days of festivities.
As the sun came up early Saturday morning, so did the hot air balloons for the annual ClovisFest and Hot Air Balloon Fun Fly.
Event coordinator Priscilla Montell says ClovisFest is all about family and community engagement, bringing people together along with countless family-friendly vendors.
“You absolutely need to come both days to come and get a feel for everything that the festival has,” Montell said. “Especially all the food.”
Event attendee Guillermo Lopez brought his friends and family early to get a look at everything and still didn’t beat the crowd at ClovisFest.
“We try to get out as early as possible,” Lopez said. “Sometimes it’s hard to get up because we got to beat the traffic, the parking lots get full.”
No matter how far they parked or how far they walked on day one, Lopez says ClovisFest is a family tradition that means more than just a morning in Old Town.
“These are memories that are going to last forever, and everybody should be a part of that,” Lopez said.
ClovisFest continues Sunday, with the second day beginning bright and early with the Hot Air Balloon Fun Fly.
