A 37-year-old San Francisco man was convicted of driving under the influence after a 911 caller reported seeing a suspected drunk driver on U.S. 101, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office said on Wednesday.

Daniel Schuhmacher was convicted by a jury of driving under the influence stemming from an unspecified incident on May 8, 2025, prosecutors said.

San Francisco police received a 911 call at about 9 a.m. reporting a suspected drunk driver on southbound U.S. 101 near Paul Avenue.

A California Highway Patrol officer responded and was alerted by the caller, who said Schuhmacher was driving behind them.

CHP officers moved Schuhmacher to a safe location near Beatty Avenue and Alana Way and conducted a DUI investigation before arresting him, according to prosecutors.
