FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Koi enthusiasts gathered at Woodward Park for the 46th annual Koi show.
The koi show was hosted by the Central California Koi Society at Woodward Park next to the Shinzen Friendship Garden.
Organizers say the Fresno Koi Show is one of the longest-standing koi shows in the nation.
More local and out-of-area hobbyists brought their prized koi to compete for a grand champion and 50 other awards.
Hundreds of koi fish were for sale from California and out-of-state dealers, including koi imported directly from top koi farms in Japan.
The event is the koi society’s main fundraiser each year.
Proceeds are used to host the show and to support the tradition, art, and culture of koi and pond keeping in the community.
The show included a raffle and silent auction, along with local food trucks.
The Central California Koi Society will donate a portion of the show’s proceeds to the Shinzen Friendship Garden to support its koi pond and koi health.
