A woman who led authorities on an hours-long pursuit from Ventura County to San Diego eventually crossed the border into Mexico.

The California Highway Patrol was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle on the northbound 405 Freeway on Monday morning.

The pursuit first started in Ventura County, where authorities were following 29-year-old Alyssa Wilson in a gray Toyota Sienna and has continued for over two hours. The mother of the woman driving was communicating with deputies, sharing with them that her daughter has challenges with her mental wellness, CHP said.

According to deputies, the car was stolen in from a recovery center on the 1900 block of Hillcrest Drive in the city of Thousand Oaks at 10:35 a.m.

The chase traveled through Ventura County, Los Angeles County and Orange County before reaching San Diego.

Throughout the pursuit, Wilson avoided several attempts by officers to stop or slow the vehicle, which hit speeds in excess of 80 mph.

At about 1:30 p.m., Wilson reached the border and appeared to successfully drive into Mexico, effectively eluding capture and ending the pursuit. It was not immediately clear whether the driver was taken into custody in Mexico.
