BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Fair gives local students a chance to showcase months of work raising and preparing livestock for competition. Livestock competitions also give fairgoers a closer look at agriculture and the work that goes into raising and showing animals.

A Kern County Fair livestock judge, Dawn Stornetta, joins ARC Bakersfield to explain how livestock judging works, what judges look for in the show ring and how students prepare for competition.
