South Sacramento just got a new Asian supermarket on Gerber Road.

SF Supermarket sells a range of seafood, produce, meat and other grocery items from China, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines, to name a few.

The store at 7960 Gerber Road officially opened Sept. 18 and announced its arrival a week prior. SF Supermarket replaced Save Mart, which closed in July.

“Get ready for your favorite Asian groceries, fresh ingredients, snacks, drinks & more — all in one place!” the store wrote on social media.

Formerly known as Shun Fat Supermarket, the chain has 21 stores nationwide, according to its website. The franchise has four other Sacramento-area locations. They are located at:

4562 Mack Rd. in Valley Hi/North Laguna6930 65th St. in south Sacramento5820 South Land Park Drive in Land Park2738 Sunrise Blvd. in Rancho Cordova

SF Supermarket will open a location at 8539 Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove, but no date has been announced.

The chain was founded by Hieu Tran, a Chinese-Vietnamese entrepreneur from Monterey Park, in 1993, according to the supermarket’s website.

“At the Shun Fat Supermarket group, our core values center around a strong commitment to providing our shoppers with a wide selection of high-quality products at low, competitive prices,” according to the website.

SF Supermarket on Gerber Road is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday. The Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
